Mother of Two

It took sometime before I got the chance to go back to this blog. When I found out I was pregnant with our second child, I got scared. You see, our first born was less than a year old then and still breastfed. The doctors advised me to stop breastfeeding for the benefit of the life growing inside me. After 8 months of breastfeeding, I stopped. I am now back to give an account of the events of the birth of my second boy, VICTOR LUCAS.
  • September 17, 2008, before 7 am - told my husband, I got a feeling we are having the baby today or tomorrow, which incidentally was our 40th week
  • While eating breakfast, I am having (what I think were) contractions every 5 minutes lasting more than 45 seconds to 60 seconds
  • On the way to the office, I continue to observe the regular contractions that keep coming
  • When I got to the office,I informed my OB-GYN of what I observed.
  • She advised me to go to the hospital to have it checked.
  • After my team meeting, I told my husband we might need to go for a check up
  • I informed my boss about it
  • Around 940am, I was in the waiting area outside the prelabor room. it was unusually packed that day and we had to wait. When they finally examined me, I was already 7 cm. dilated. My OB-GYN is in a speaking engagement and could not come to the phone at once when the resident called.
  • I overheard the staff that the OB-GYN might not make it if they don't delay the progress of labor.
  • When the anesthesiologist came, I allowed her to put 1 dose of epidural. I really don't need it yet but I thought the epidural can delay the labor a bit and my OB-GYN can reach the hospital on time.
  • True enough, my doctor arrived. After an internal exam, I got wheeled to the delivery room. I had a harder time to push since the epidural was so strong I cannot feel any urge to push
  • 1214 Lucas is out screaming his lungs out. Good job Lucas!
